Like most of my customers, if you just have 2-3 days in Guilin, here is the best choice to take the essence of Guilin photography Tour.
This tour covers 1-6 days itinerary, including almost all best of Guilin photography locations and activities, sunrise, sunset, karst mountains and rivers, rice terraces and rice fields, ancient towns and villages, local people potraits, and cormorant fisherman photography.
Drive to Longji rice terraces around 9am. Once there, meet some local people and girls with long hair. Will reach to the highest location hotel by walking 2 hours from the parking lot. A short break then arrive at a view point to see the sunset over the terraces. Afterwards we’ll head to the hotel for dinner.
The sunrise shooting on a view platform in the hotel we will stay. Or make time lapse as you want.
Arrive to another village, where the famous Longji Dragon’s Back view is. Shoot the overview of the village.
Back to Guilin before 6pm, and go climbing a hill in a park, take photos of the sunset and city life. See how the city was built in mountains. We wait until city lights on.
Get up early (leave hotel at 4-4:30am) to catch the sunrise on a mountain peak that very few foreign people ever visit, overlooking the most dramatic scenery of the Li River. There are about 500 stone steps.
Landscape shots over Li River and karst scenery at sunrise or during the earlier part of the morning, depending on the weather forecast in terms of cloud. At this time of year i'm told we might be lucky to capture mists between the mountains and there is a location of the mountain that gives you the best chance.
Around 7:30am drive to Yangdi to board a motorized raft along Li River in the morning light (before 8am and before tourists), stopping in the best places for shooting. Arrive in Xingping and meet some of the fishermen in their home, and take some informal portrait shots.
Then we go to the hotel, check in and for some time off. Check out or edit photos by drinking coffee.
Start at late afternoon for sunset, 10 minutes walking. Meet two eldest cormorant fishermen in this village, shoot the river sunset and gas lamp portrait in dusk.
Leave the hotel early (at 4:30am) to catch sunrise on Li River; we walk a short way and then take a raft to get to location, with one of the best mountain reflections along the river. Arrange to have cormorant fisherman to join us in sunrise light.
Return to hotel for breakfast or grab on the road somwhere, before continuing to shoot Li River landscape further by climbing one of the highest mountain around.
Go back out in evening for Sunset overlooking a valley with mountains as backdrop. Drive directly to a location where the late afternoon sun lights the fields with magnificent mountains in the distance. We wait until after the sunset and continue back to the hotel for late dinner.
One hour drive to a village, shoot buffalo farmer on ancient stone bridges with background mountains. See how local people feed hundreds of ducks in wild. It is a pure relaxing place, absolutely no tourists.
Head to a small ancient town, go visit some local family, listen their stories and have some portraits shooting in natural way. Capture the time and happy faces in old houese.
